About Me:

Vanessa Isabel Porras (she/her/hers) is a New York City based actor/singer. She is a part of the inaugural class of Musical Theater graduates at Manhattan School of Music where she worked and studied alongside many esteemed theater artists based in NYC. Vanessa’s love of the performing arts was cultivated in the Bay Area, California with her deeply supportive family guiding her every step of the way. Being a first-generation Nicaraguan-American, she’s grown to embrace her voice and its importance in storytelling and diversifying the industry. While at MSM, Vanessa was a part of the Freshman Showcase, the Cole Porter Showcase, The Tony Award Showcase, Smile (as Maria), in the ensemble of Spring Awakening, And the World Goes ‘Round, and was in rehearsal as an ensemble member of, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, until it was canceled due to the pandemic. Highlight projects for Vanessa include being a part of a workshop for a musical in development at Encores! New York City Center which was directed by Sammi Cannold and singing backup for Shoba Narayan’s cabaret called, Places, at Green Room 42. She is excited to see where the rest of her career is going to take her; this is only the beginning!
